For a period of time until the end of 2008, Fred Weaver owned and operated the Apocalypse the Apocalypse studio and label out of Baton Rouge. Secret Annexe’s Rob Mulhearn once referred to him as “the Steve Albini of Baton Rouge”. He has since relocated to be near family in Clearfield PA, keeping studio aspects in tact.
Just some of the landmark recordings that eminated from AtA in BR:
Reception Is Suspected-The New American Etiquette
Slobot-Fainting In Coils
Otasco-Hubris
Secret Annexe-What Is It About This Place?
Lest we forget, Weaver also has performed, toured and recorded his own material. Two albums in particular, Five Digit Land and New Gravity are examples of recordings that music smarks love for the sake of the craft of music. Weaver also wisely utilizes the mad scientist guitar talent/technical whiz kid John Wygle sonically and behind the scenes in these recordings.
